A Wigglely Concert!

Grammies, P, bubbies and I went to see The Wiggles last night at Nationwide Arena. Simply put: it was awesome. When I was first introduced to The Wiggles by my Aunt Mary I wasn't sure if it was something I could get into. I mean, 4 men, a "Captain Feathersword" that makes people laugh by tickling them with his sword, and a bunch of grown men and women dancing and singing for kids. At first I was apprehensive because it meant I was falling into that whole mainstream Disney thing, but I have to write, I am now an official Wigglyaddict....for my kids, of course.

We started our love of Wiggles by Mary searching them on Youtube. We found some great little snippets from their TV show, their concerts and other random fun. I was intrigued by the music and P was intrigued by the dancing and music. Everything they do is high-energy and colorful...hmm? perfect for kids, I think so!

The show was terrific. Grammies and I just laughed and smiled at the kids and at some of the adult humor that was thrown in. P was taking in the stage, all the people and the "biggness" of the arena and then once she realized she wasn't just there to play with stickers she was very excited. The whole show I held her standing on my lap so she could see and be mesmorized by colorful men in blue, red, purple and yellow. Grammies held bubbies and he just looked at all the people and smiled and cooed the whole time. I couldn't have been happier with how perfect my kids were! The show was about an hour and half long. Lots of skits, music, dancing and humor. People in the audience brought signs from their kids, such as: "Lizzie is and Aussie," "It is John's Birthday" and someone brought "You say OH, I say IO." The blue Wiggle, Anthony, would read the signs outloud and was trying to figure out what one sign read. The sign basically prompted him to say "O-H" and the crowd responded with "I-O." He looked confused and then figured out it was a chant and said it again when all the guys were out on stage. They were a little shocked to hear the crowd yell "I-O" at them. Oh...Ohio proud dorkiness....it was cute, though.

They rocked it old style, too. They dressed up like the Beatles, the 70's era and did their renditions of Humpty Dumpty and the Isty Bitsy Spider. It was nice to see appreciation of kids' music from the past and how they feel it is important for our kids of the future. You could tell how much they loved what they do, too. It was obvious they love children and they love music. I think we are very lucky to have groups like them to peak our children's interest in music and dancing. I will take the kids again...no doubt.
