I took my second glucose screening test yesterday. It seemed to go okay while I was there, but that is not an indication of whether or not I have gestational diabetes. I asked the nurse and he said that I just need to wait for the results from my doctor to see if I am in the clear or not. I'll find out on Monday what is going on.
I was wrong about how the test is administered. When you go in they take your blood after fasting for twelve hours and then you drink 100mg of glucola instead of the 50mg from the initial test. Then they take your blood every three hours. I felt fine during the test and asked the nurse if that was a good sign. He said every person reacts differently and that I will need to wait for the results from my doctor. When I drove home, though, that was a different story.
I ate a cereal bar in my car, which was a horrible choice because it had sugar in it. It basically made me feel horrible. I started getting really sick on the way home and was hoping I wouldn't pass out while driving. When I reached the house I ate a few crackers and drank some milk. I waited for the horrible feeling to pass and then ate a real lunch. I put P down for a nap and took one as well. It wasn't until after my nap that I actually felt kind of normal.
I am wondering if that is a normal reaction to that test. I am having a horrible time finding anything about it online. Luckily I have some family and friends who went through the test that I can ask.
I changed my diet over the passed two days and feel much better. It is probably better that I changed it even if I don't have GD because I was eating way too much food or some days too much junk.
